As a lightweight core material for composites, honeycombs are available in a variety of cell sizes and variable densities. They offer a wide range of mechanical and thermal properties. They have exceptionally high stiffness and strength combined with low weight, not least due to the structural bionics of the honeycomb, and are therefore ideally suited for use in aerospace technology and other industrial sectors. Honeycomb cores are available in all non-metallic (glass, aramid, carbon) and in metallic (aluminium) materials.
