Biesterfeld expands partnership with DEUREX AG – Extended distribution rights for BIOMERE® and synthesis waxes throughout Europe

Hamburg, 09.01.2025 – Biesterfeld, one of the leading international distributors of rubber products, is expanding its partnership with DEUREX AG. With the expansion of the partnership, Biesterfeld now has distribution rights for the whole of Europe. This relates to the biodegradable waxes BIOMERE® and all synthetic waxes from DEUREX AG, which are used in the rubber and cable industry.

Since the beginning of the partnership in June last year, Biesterfeld has had the distribution rights for the biodegradable waxes BIOMERE® and the synthetic polyethylene waxes DEUREX® for the regions DACH, Italy and France. These distribution rights have now been extended to cover the whole of Europe. The current rubber portfolio will also be expanded to include further synthetic waxes from DEUREX AG, which are used in the rubber and cable industry.

BIOMERE® – Biodegradable waxes

The biodegradable BIOMERE® from DEUREX are waxes that can prevent the formation of microplastics. They therefore fulfil EU Regulation 2023/2055, which deals with the placing of microplastics on the market. This makes BIOMERE® a good alternative to conventional polymers as they have the same performance and properties. For example, the waxes contribute to improved surfaces as well as high durability and a better appearance. Advantages include abrasion resistance and resistance to weathering.

Expansion of the rubber portfolio – Fischer-Tropsch waxes, amide waxes, hybrid waxes

Biesterfeld's new additions to its rubber portfolio include Fischer-Tropsch waxes, which are considered to be the hardest waxes in the world. The range includes various Fischer-Tropsch wax types with a solidification point of 50 degrees to 105 degrees Celsius. The crystalline waxes can be supplied both as complete wax slabs and as powders, micronised waxes or liquid products. Another new addition to the portfolio is amide waxes, which are obtained as semi-synthetic waxes from natural waxes. The range includes erucamide waxes, oleamide waxes and stearamide waxes, for example. The amide waxes are available as granules, powders, ultrafine powders and micronised waxes. They can also be fused with other wax types to create hybrid waxes. By combining different waxes, numerous variations of hybrid waxes made from synthetic waxes, natural waxes or a mixture of both types of wax are possible.

Franziska Tödter, Product Manager at Biesterfeld Performance Rubber, says: “We are delighted with DEUREX's confidence in us and the corresponding expansion of our partnership. This enables us to offer our customers throughout Europe our complementary portfolio in the field of synthetic and biodegradable waxes. For example, we can now offer a harder Fischer-Tropsch wax or the biodegradable BIOMERE® as a substitute for a softer polyethylene wax, depending on the customer's wishes and application requirements. As we want to support our customers with more sustainable solutions, we are particularly pleased to be able to offer BIOMERE® waxes to all customers in the rubber and cable industry in Europe.”

Willi Rauschenbach, Sales Manager of DEUREX AG, adds: “Driven by our innovative spirit, we strive to offer our customers waxes of the highest quality. BIOMERE® is a flagship product for us in the field of wax additives, as it has the same performance and properties as standard waxes and is up to 100% bio-based and biodegradable. We are delighted to be able to meet customer demand for more sustainable products and are proud to have a strong partner like Biesterfeld at our side to help us market the products throughout Europe.”

About DEUREX - the wax company

Founded in 1989, the family-owned company is now a leading supplier of synthetic and natural industrial waxes. One of the company's success factors is the greatest possible variety in its product portfolio, both in terms of the chemistry and the delivery forms of the waxes. From PE waxes to hybrid waxes and sugar cane waxes, all important wax raw materials can be found in the range. The industries to which the additives are supplied internationally are just as diverse as the wax portfolio.

The portfolio was successfully diversified in 2017 when the European Patent Office awarded an inventor prize for the oil and chemical binder DEUREX PURE. In keeping with the spirit of the times, DEUREX is increasingly focusing on renewable and environmentally friendly raw materials. The most innovative product family here is BIOMERE, a range of biodegradable and therefore more environmentally friendly wax additives.
