Polyitaconates are plant based polymers of itaconic acid. Itaconic acid is a safe, natural molecule produced in the biochemical process of living organisms. It is widely available via the industrial fermentation of plant materials, such as corn and sugar beets.
Due to their unique functionality, polyitaconates can replace fossil-based acrylates and other additives, such as phosphonates, in cleaning formulations.
Polyitaconates particularly offer superior calcium & magnesium chelation and advanced scale inhibition. They improve stain removal, anti-encrustation and anti-redeposition in fabric detergents.
They provide less metal and glass corrosion than conventionally used chelating agents.
They are easy to formulate across wide temperature and pH ranges.
They are particularly suited for automatic dish wash, for fabric care and for hard surface cleaner applications.
