Cetylalkohol wird in der kosmetischen Industrie als Trübungsmittel in Shampoos oder als Weichmacher, Emulgator oder Verdickungsmittel bei der Herstellung von Hautcremes und Lotionen verwendet werden. Es wird auch als ein Schmiermittel für Schrauben und Muttern verwendet.
