PVC foams are closed-cell foams with excellent stiffness. They are very durable, have a low water absorption rate and excellent chemical resistance. They can also be processed with all conventional resin systems and processes. The good cell structure supports excellent adhesion of other materials to the foam. The closed-cell structure supports very good adhesion of other materials to the foam. PVC foams are the core material of choice for many lightweight sandwich structures that are exposed to dynamic or static loads. They can be used in the most common processes (hand lamination, prepreg (up to 140 °C), injection / infusion process). In shipbuilding and boatbuilding, PVC foams are used in the fuselage, deck and interior construction. In rail and road vehicles, they’re recommended as supporting structures such as floors and walls.
