By completing the move into a modern, fully equipped central warehouse, Biesterfeld Spezialchemie is successfully implementing its new logistics concept. The relocation will enlarge the distribution company’s storage capacities by 25% and increase productivity through an optimised flow of goods. The efficient logistics concept takes into account the day-to-day challenges encountered in the supply chain, helping to ensure timely delivery. The warehouse in Solingen handles global distribution to customers as well as supplying materials to European subsidiaries.
Through the new logistics concept, the distributor is actively responding to the dynamic business development of recent years while preparing for further strategic growth. “Highly efficient distribution logistics is one of the cornerstones of an internationally active business,” explains Peter Wilkes, Managing Director of Biesterfeld Spezialchemie. “This will enable us to continue providing the first-class service and smooth supply chain our customers and suppliers have come to expect.”
Biesterfeld’s central warehouse in Europe is state-of-the-art. The spacious high-bay warehouse with dynamic storage and plenty of room for movement makes optimum use of space and allows flexible movement of goods. Electronic process integration throughout the value chain guarantees a uniform and transparent flow of information and goods. “It goes without saying that this includes a seamless batch tracing system and efficient, reliable services geared towards the needs of our partners,” adds Andre Neddermann, Logistics Manager at Biesterfeld Spezialchemie. “By working with long-term professional logistics partners, we continually develop our processes to ensure efficiency.”
High-quality surveillance systems also provide outstanding protection against fire and theft, while state-of-the-art measuring technology ensures compliance with climate requirements for storage. The stock management system is specially designed for the strict material and quality requirements that apply to demanding products such as raw materials for pharmaceuticals, food and chemicals.
