For the past five years, Biesterfeld Spezialchemie has been supporting the next generation of professionals through its involvement in the Deutschlandstipendium, a national programme for outstanding students. Every year, the company supports two students of business chemistry at the University of Münster.
One of this year’s recipients is master’s student Sabrina Montsch. In September and October, she completed a two-month internship at Biesterfeld Spezialchemie in the market segment Coatings & Inks. “During the internship I handled a number of tasks on my own,” she says. “For example, I did customer research and coordinated a new newsletter. I also attended meetings with customers and I gained a varied insight into the company's activities in a short space of time. The internship helped me to understand how a knowledge of chemistry is combined with business know-how in distribution, in a real-life context. One of the most positive things I took away with me was the friendly, open atmosphere at Biesterfeld.”
The Deutschlandstipendium was launched in the summer semester 2011 and Biesterfeld has been involved in the initiative since the winter semester 2011/12. Half of the monthly award of €300 is provided by a business or private sponsor, while the other half comes from the federal government. The programme supports high-achieving students who also shoulder responsibility, demonstrate social commitment or successfully overcome personal challenges.
