Biesterfeld is expanding its long-term partnership with US manufacturer SCIGRIP for two-component methyl methacrylate (MMA) adhesives, which are in demand in the marine, automotive and rail industries above all. The product range is already distributed in Poland, the Baltic states, Germany, France and the UK. With effect from 1 September 2021, the agreement will also cover distribution rights for Italy.
MMA adhesives are one of the current megatrends in lightweight construction and are used in a range of marine, transportation and automotive industry applications to achieve reliable bonds between metals, plastics, composites and combinations of these materials. They offer high tensile strength and flexible bonds, combining the advantages of epoxy and polyurethane adhesives. Since many substrates require no surface preparation and the systems are very simple to use, much less time is required for adhesive application, which means productivity can be increased.
