Biesterfeld Spezialchemie has assumed the distribution of pharmaceutical zinc oxides produced by the German manufacturer Grillo Zinkoxid GmbH with immediate effect. With the cooperation agreements covering Poland, Spain, Italy, the UK, France and the German-speaking area, the distributor is augmenting its portfolio of excipients and active ingredients for the pharmaceutical industry.
The zinc oxides, Pharma 4 GMP, Pharma 6 GMP and Pharma 8 GMP, are pharmaceutically pure zinc oxides, produced from highly pure metallic SHG zinc in accordance with the EU GMP guidelines and complying with the purity standards of the pharmacopoeias (Ph. Eur., BP and USP) currently in effect.
The zinc oxides are used in human and veterinary medicine. Because of their anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties they are ideal for use in the treatment of wounds, inflammations and skin conditions, such as intertrigo. As a mineral UV absorber, the zinc oxide used in sunscreen products protects against UV-A radiation.
“We are very pleased to sign the cooperation agreement with Grillo Zinkoxid,” says Dr Andreas Lekebusch, Business Manager Healthcare at Biesterfeld Spezialchemie. “As a traditional and family-run company, Grillo offers customer-focused solutions for the use of zinc oxides. The products are ideally suited for providing end-to-end service for customers focusing on areas of treatment such as skin and wounds. With its high quality standards, Grillo is a perfect match for Biesterfeld.”
