PI - Polyimide
Vespel®
Product description
Vespel® is a high-performance polyimide (PI). In demanding applications it surpasses other technical materials.
The strengths of this product family include its outstanding temperature resistance. Because Vespel® does not melt, its area of use ranges from cryogenic to very high temperatures. Whether lubricated or non-lubricated, this high-performance polyimide also offers high wear resistance and exceptionally high dimensional stability and creep resistance.
Vespel® is available in the form of finished or semi-finished parts. Typical applications include anti-friction bushes, thrust washers, valve seats and insulators in the automotive, aerospace and semiconductor industries as well as general machine construction.
Vespel® Product Family | Modification | Properties |
---|---|---|
Vespel® SP-1 | Unfilled | Max. toughness, best electrical properties, lowest thermal conductivity |
Vespel® SP-21 | Graphite | Improved wear resistance |
Vespel® SP-22 | Graphite | Lower coefficient of thermal expansion, improved creep resistance |
Vespel® SP-211 | Graphite, fluoro polymer | Lowest static coefficient of friction |
Vespel® SP-3 | MoS2 | for low wear, -friction applications in vacuum |
Vespel® SCP-5000 | Unfilled | Improved properties in comparison to SP-1 |
Vespel® SCP-5009, SCP-50094, SCP-5050 | Modified | Lower friction and improved wear resistance in comparison to SP-21 |
Vespel® CR-6100 | Carbon fiber compound material on fluoro polymer base | Excellent dimensional stability, chemical compatibility and wear resistance |
