LFRP - Long fiber reinforced thermoplastics

Celstran®

Product description

The Celstran® product family comprises long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastics (LFRP) from Celanese. Both amorphous and semi-crystalline polymers can be used as matrix materials. The product spectrum ranges from standard and engineering plastics to high-performance plastics. Glass, carbon, aramid or stainless steel fibers can be selected as reinforcing fibers.

Celstran® is characterized by high fibre wetting and a patented manufacturing process, so that high material properties can be set in this product family. These include excellent mechanical properties and thermal stability at elevated temperatures and humidity. Compared to short-fiber-reinforced thermoplastics, Celstran® has a lower tendency to shrink and warp. Other properties include high surface quality, chemical and corrosion resistance and high impact strength.

Typical areas of application can be found in the automotive industry, aviation, construction, the E/E sector or in the processing industry, for example in electric cars, as a building construction material or in 5G communication technology.

Due to the good flow properties of the matrix materials, Celstran® is mainly processed by injection molding. Other methods such as blow molding or compression molding are also possible.
